DaviddeRozas

David de Rozas is an award-winning filmmaker living and working in Los Angeles. He has a BFA in Fine Arts from the Complutense University, and an MFA in Cinema at the San Francisco State University. His practice expands over education and cultural work by combining film research and production, teaching, and curatorial projects. Much of David’s work explores the encounters between history and memory as an attempt to inquiry into latencies of the futures nested within them. By speaking about the politics that shape these encounters, how and where they are manifested and experienced, he examines notions of document, place, identity, and hybridity in the XXI century.

David’s films have been screened in festivals and film curated series worldwide, such as Visions du Réel, Sheffield Doc/Fest, True/False, Big Sky, AFI Docs, the inaugural Smithsonian African American FF, Kassel DocFest, Tirana International FF, AESTHETICA, Brooklyn, DOXA, Experiments in Cinema, Escales Documentaires, SF DocFest, ARKIPEL, Tacoma, ICDOCS, OTHER Cinema, Tulsa FF, The Unseen Festival, Winnipeg Underground Film Festival, MUX, UCLA, FLEXfest, DOCLA, Brand New Blinkers, Urban Research, or the Creatively Speaking Film Series Program in New York among others. He is working on his first feature documentary film Here We Is, while he lecturers at SFSU School of Cinema where he teaches Visual Style, Documentary, and Experimental Cinema.
